Cognate Categories

Description

The cognate in speech and debate prepares students to successfully express themselves through argumentation and public speaking. Students will develop skills in research, audience analysis and adaptation, message organization and delivery, effective and powerful language use, audience engagement and involvement, and speaking with confidence. Critical thinking competencies will be enhanced through experiential learning and effective listening strategies. Students will also become familiar with relevant communication theories and case studies.
