Centered on the Spanish language, cultural studies, and linguistics courses offered by the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures, this cognate covers the linguistic and cultural competencies needed to communicate within a Spanish-speaking environment as well as the analytical skills to interpret the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. This cognate teaches not only how to communicate in the Spanish language and according to its cultural codes, but also how to decode social phenomena within the Spanish-speaking world.
