Description

The period since the early 1900s has been one of tremendous literary innovation during which cultural traditions and taboos have been challenged. This cognate is devoted to the study of American, British, and world literature from the era of literary Modernism, during the first half of the twentieth century, to the present day. Students will be able to study important authors (such as James Joyce and V.S. Naipaul), developments in regional literatures (including Caribbean and Irish literatures), and important ideas in relationship with literature (such as feminism, postcolonial theory, and psychoanalysis).
