Cognate Categories

Description

The wide range of literature in the United States from its origins to the present day. Students will have the opportunity to study such topics as American fictional traditions (and authors like Hawthorne, Melville, and Henry James), ethnic literature (including African American, Asian American, and Jewish American writings), and important cultural issues that are reflected in the literature (such as urbanization and political turmoil).
