Centered on the Arabic language, linguistics, and cultural studies courses offered by the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures, this cognate covers the linguistic and cultural competencies needed to communicate within an Arabic-speaking environment as well as the analytical skills to interpret the cultures of the Arabic-speaking world. This cognate teaches not only how to communicate in the Arabic language and according to its cultural codes, but also how to decode social phenomena within the Arabic-speaking world.
